Event Recap: Let's Talk Sex, Barcelona
How often do we have open and honest conversations about sex?
This event provided an amazing opportunity to engage in a stimulating and informative discussion about sex and sexuality. Getting to hear such a wonderful variety of lived experiences in such a welcoming and warm environment, it quickly felt more like a gathering of lifelong friends!
Guests originated from various backgrounds, faiths, and age groups, allowing for a beautiful array of perspectives to be heard. Espai Egg provided the elegant space and crafted a delicious menu inspired by the multiculturalism of the Raval neighbourhood where they are located. The menu included, homemade focaccia, dukkah, Shawarma style lamb legs or red curry with basmati rice flavored with turmeric and saffron as a vegan alternative and more!
One of the great things about these events is that because there is no pressure to network, guests are able to connect in meaningful ways that foster true familiarity, creating a safe space for honesty. However, when I first envisioned this dinner I didn’t expect people to be so incredibly willing to share their intimate experiences in front of strangers or even friends, it was a beautiful and welcomed surprise.
Each dinner card had a different fun fact about various sexual practices from around the world which made diving into our own sexual experiences easier. We discussed sex positivity, inclusivity, the complexities of sex education when you’re LGBTQ, how our backgrounds influence how we view sex and sexuality and much more!
‘I have never shared this before’ was a phrase repeated throughout the night, is there anything better for a hostess to hear?
